Welcome to Newfoundland’s first entirely vegetarian restaurant!

Since opening in 2005, The Sprout has always been a woman-owned and operated vegetarian business. In 2016 The Sprout passed to a new young female entrepreneur, owner of Poyo late night tacos.

It is our mission to make vegan and vegetarian foods enticing to everyone. This is why our menu, though mostly plant-based, still includes a couple “gateway” dairy ingredients for transitioning carnivores and plant-skeptics.

Nearly all of our salsas, sauces, breads, desserts and meat-substitutes are made in house, from scratch, using fresh wholesome ingredients. We offer takeout, delivery (through Doordash), dine in and catering. We are licensed and offer local beers, as well as spirits, wine, and cocktails (including the strongest, sugar-free margarita in town)!

We are passionate about supporting the arts, women, refugees, minorities, the queer community, and people without housing or food security. We are located on the unceded ancestral territory of the Beothuk, and Mi’kmaw. We strive to be responsible stewards of the land and to respect the cultures, ceremonies, and traditions of all who call it home.

We are always happy to donate and collaborate, and to display artworks and handicrafts without charging commission.
